A microchip controlled agitator senses your washing load, and controls the agitator action to give you the most effective cleaning action with maximum care for your clothes. If your clothes start to get bunched up, Smart Drive senses a problem and changes the agitator action to ensure even clothes distribution within the bowl. Smart Drive ‘Excellence’ offers 16 different agitator actions which are adjusted constantly to suit your wash load.
- Reliability
- No belts, pulleys, clutches or gearbox. Just Smart electronics controlling a special motor with direct drive to the agitator. Fewer moving parts mean greater reliability. The Smart design agitator mixes the washing powder with the incoming water before it adds it to your wash. After the wash cycles, it adds the fabric softener (if you use it) to the final rinse where it is needed.
- Correct water temperatures
- Smart Drive doesn’t add hot and cold water to your wash. Before the water goes into your wash, it mixes the hot and cold to get exactly the right temperature. You won’t get hot water splashing on your woollens with a Smart Drive.
- Smart Drive makes cold water washing powders work better
- Cold water powders are designed to work best at exactly 20 degrees Celsius. Your cold tap is rarely at 20 degrees Celsius. In the cold wash setting, Smart Drive mixes in a little hot to get the correct temperature before the water touches your clothes. You can alter the temperature settings if the factory setting doesn’t suit you. We will set the temperatures for you when we deliver your new Smart Drive.

- Smart Drive spins faster - at up to 1,000 rpm to remove water more effectively. Your clothes become 30% drier than spinning at the slower speeds of conventional machines.

- You can programme your Smart Drive to automatically correct unbalanced loads.
- Extra fast 1,000 rpm spin speed
- Or, for delicates, slower 300 or 700rpm spins. With the Delicate, Permanent Press or Wool cycles, your Smart Drive selects the right speed.

- Delayed Start - This allows you to delay the wash start by 1, 6 or 9 hours. If you set the wash to start while you are at work and finish just before you get home, the washing will not have been sitting damp in the machine all day.
- Favourite cycle option
- Preset the memory so you have only one button to push for your regular wash.
- Water levels
- The Smart Drive allows you to set the water level to suit your wash (5 steps). If you set the level too low or add clothes during the wash, the Smart Drive automatically adds more water to give you the best possible wash.
- Smart water temperature control
- Your Smart Drive will not let you select a wash temperature which could be too hot for a particular cycle. For example, if you select a hot wash when you have pushed Delicate, Permanent Press or Wool cycle, your Smart Drive knows these fabrics could be damaged and so will not proceed.
- Adjustable beeps
- You can adjust the number of beeps the washer uses to tell you it has finished, from 15 to 5 or none.
